The Dee-ring is a compromise between an Eggbutt and a full cheek snaffle, preventing pinching at the corners of the mouth but without the dangers posed by the arms of a full cheek snaffle.  The Segunda port can provide relief on the tongue and encourage lightness in the bridle.
